[AT] somewhat OT--skid steer vs tractor for mowing

Years ago I was mowing right beside the highway and up on a hill about 6
feet above the roadbed. I hit a stump and broke off the end of the bush hog
blade. A piece of steel about 3/8 thick and 4" x 3" flew over the road like
a bullet and passed by the windshield of a Ford Aerostar van with just
inches to spare. The guy driving the van was a friend of mine. He waved
and kept going. I'm not sure he even saw the thing comming his way. If he
had been 3 feet up the road that thing would have gone through his window
and hit him in the head. I feel like it would have killed him.

Since then if I'm mowing along the road I push the clutch in when I see
traffic getting close and I have insurance coverage specific for
"landscaping" on my business policy.
