I was going to ask the same thing Farmer. My 97 Blazer has never had any
kind of inspection since I bought it in 02. The check engine light has been
on intermittently for the past couple of years. I've had it code read and re
set a couple of times but it eventually comes back on. The problem seems to
be some sort of vent or air breather down by the fuel filler. Expensive and
difficult to replace. Plus, the vehicle seems to work just fine as is so I
have just been ignoring the constant light on the dash.
No such problems on my 81 GMC. I suppose by today's standards the truck is a
serious contributor to smog and air pollution. But I like my old truck,
almost as much as my old tractors. ":-)
