A new oil pan gasket is always best. In a crunch you can reuse the old
gasket by first wiping it and the mating surface down with a little bit of
carb cleaner, or something equivalent, and apply a light film of RTV. This
of course assumes half of the gasket doesn't stick to the pan and the
other half stick to the block. Using straight RTV will also work, but you
have to be careful not to squeeze everything out, or leaving to bolts too
loose and they fall out when you use the tractor. If you can't find a
gasket locally, go to your local auto parts store and by a sheet of cork
gasket material, trace the pan on the cork sheet, and cut it out such that
it is about 3/4 wide.
