Pouring oil into the oil filter won't help, it just flows directly back
into the oil pan, after the pump. you may have worn gears that take longer
to draw oil from the pan, a loose fitting between the pan and the pump, or
the oil pump gasket is bad and the pump isn't retaining its prime. Try
priming the pump before you start the engine and see if it makes a
difference in how fast the oil pressure builds up. It priming solved the
problem then start looking for why the oil in the pump drains and you
loose the prime. I've heard that sometimes the pump needs to be primed if
the tractor sits too long. One of the older members might be able to
verify this.
