[AT] Track loader update

This certainly explains more of your Carb/starting on gas issues. I had
understood it as YOU were starting it direct on diesel.... I really had
wondered how it was possible, but based on your integrity, I wasn't going to
'call' you on it ;-)

BTW.... When I got mine I have no idea how long it sat. It wouldn't run on
diesel right away though. We had to take the valve cover off, and loosen up
each of the decompression valves. They were all sticking open.

Steering clutches are FUN!!! The engineers left you just enough room to get
a wrench in there, turn it like 1/32 of a turn, and not quite be able to get
it back on again. And... unless you have small hands, you will have to use
the wrench the whole way.... Really SUX!

I have had both my steering clutches, and the drive clutch out. All 3 were
stuck when I got it. Fortunately, labor was all that was required. My
major problem at this point is worn tracks. Matter of fact, its sitting in
the middle of the woods currently, sans starter, with a track off. Last
time we used it, dad threw a track. While trying to get it back on, he
stalled it. Instead of hitting the starter button IMMEDIATELY while still
on diesel, he sat there and talked to my brother for 5 minutes. We tore up
the starter trying to get it started on gas again.

For the $800 I paid for mine... I am very happy!

Mike

Another first tonight - she fired on diesel. Took some coaxing
though. It wasn't air in the system because I got plenty of smoke.
It just took about a dozen tries before she would go. Once again,
chalk it up to not running for 4 years. I'll tell you what - I don't
know how the previous owner ever got it fired on starting fluid. In
fact, I'll bet he told a pretty big story. I doubt he ever got it running.

One bad note: No bubbles in the coolant while on gas, but I got some
bubbles and foaming and overflow while on diesel. I put the radiator
cap on, and then I let it run about 10 minutes on diesel at half
throttle while I tried the bucket and messed around with a few other
things. The radiator cap held the pressure, as did the radiator,
etc. So I am hoping this is just a very minor one-way (air into water)
head gasket leak and not something more serious. Further running and
some inspections over the next few weeks will tell the tale. I can
move the track loader now at the very least, which is the main reason I
had to get this running.

Steering clutch repair is next! Stayed tuned.
