As the story goes, about a week ago I bought a JD H that was completely taken apart at my Father in Laws auction.? It originally belonged to my wife's grandfather and had been taken apart by one of her cousins to restore.? Instead, it had sat for 30 years inside a building looking like a big jig saw puzzle.? We decided it would be a good project for me and my sons so it came home with us for $800 (serial number 6600).

A few minutes after the auctioneer's gavel came down, a man approached me and said that he has another one in his barn that will drive up onto my trailer that he would sell me for the same amount of money.? Yesterday I?went down to check things out and?what I found was a 1942 H, great sheet metal (including fenders), decent rubber and?99.9% complete.? I have no doubt it would run, the only problem with it is he let water get into the rear end and now there is a hole in the?rear end big enough to pass a foot ball through.? He said he has driven it around like it is, but he?knows it needs to be replaced.? I know H's seem to be relatively collectable, so would you buy a running one for $800 that needs a completely new rear end put together??I can't stand the thought of passing up a good project, but I have about 20 "good" projects waiting in-line :-).

Enjoy, Joe
