[Farmall] Any advice on THIS problem (Off Topic...sorry)

  I tend to agree with you on all points other than the concept of  "earning the tractor".  That would suggest that it, somehow,  "converts" to his ownership of it and that is not my intent.   Among other things, if he becomes of the mind that it is 100% "his",  this would remove (or, minimally, make more difficult) the idea of  "reward" in terms of allowing his continued (even increased) use of it  based up "positive behavior".  Maybe I am off base, here...I  usually am. ;-)
  Thanks for your endorsement of the plan.  Hope you are safe and  warm wherever you are (or at least safe...it is January, after all).

Yes, my "made by my own  hand" light posts were dealt a dirty blow 
and I am in the "process" of  replacing them and the other damage done.
   That having been written, maybe Aaron (that is the boy's name, by 
the  way) would benefit from being given the "responsibility" for the 
old  112....checking the fluids, changing the oil/filters, washing it 
down  and all of that.  I guess I am heading toward a "focus" sort 
of  thing.  I could be totally off base...I am only trying.
