My husband showed me some of the postings about Aaron, so I want to help, if
I can. I feel for Aaron and I can understand what he is going through. He
needs help and people, especially at least ONE person that he can be very close
to, trust, and confide in. My daughter and I are that for my grandson.
"Aspies" are very special, intelligent kids, who need people to understand them
and bring out the best in them. People who don't understand them can really
damage them emotionally.

Our homeschooled, 14-yr-old grandson was diagnosed with Asperger's Oct.,
2006, by a psychiatric group in Kansas City, MO. There is also an Asperger's
"specialist" counselor there, who has a 12-yr-old "Aspie" boy, a 4-yr-old boy
with autism, and a normal 8-yr-old girl. The specialist could see, within a few
minutes, that our grandson has Asperger's. It really is obvious, if you know
what you are looking for. They are very special people, and once you
understand them, a lot of things they do or don't do make sense.

Our gr-son has been put on Trileptal for Bi-polar issues and Zoloft for
anxiety. Before the meds, he would get very angry at nothing and had great
difficulty getting thru it, like severe temper tantrums. Life was not easy for any
of us. There are a lot more symptoms, but with the meds, he is usually a
happy boy now, and his mind can settle down. I wish he had been diagnosed a long
time ago, when we first took him to a dr. about his problems.

Aaron may not have Bi-polar issues or anxiety, but there are usually other
things wrong than just Asperger Syndrome. There is help for him out there and
schools are required by law to help him, especially now with the "No Child
Left Behind" program. Are the parents informed about Asperger's? There are lots
of websites and books available. Two good websites are:

_ASPERGER DISORDER HOMEPAGE_ (http://www.aspergers.com/)
_http://www.aspergers.com/_ (http://www.aspergers.com/)

Online Asperger Syndrome Information and Support
_http://www.udel.edu/bkirby/asperger/_ (http://www.udel.edu/bkirby/asperger/)

If they would like to email me, my email is _DellaJane at aol.com_
(mailto:DellaJane at aol.com) . I would like to help, if I can. Also, our Asperger's
specialist might be able to point them in the right direction.

So...
My little friend Aaron continues to be bullied by his classmates. The
school saw fit to put him in "detention" this week. The weather, as you MUST
know, has been terrible in these parts over the last several days. The school
system stuck Aaron in a room and shoved him up tight against a desk
("confined" him). The young fellow freaked out and left the building in
Churchville, New York (Fairbanks Road) and took off without a coat walking down
Buffalo Road (Rte. 33) to try to get back home. The school authorities finally
woke up and retrieved him off of this very busy thoroughfare, replete with
municipal snow plowing trucks.
What the hell????
