Usually once a year on the tractors that see some use. Some of the other
stored tractors go quite a long time between changes. I know that 50 diesel
has been sitting for at least 15 years since I put the oil in the engine. Of
course it hasn't run since then either.
Just recently I resurrected my 81 GMC pickup after a five year long rest in
the shed. The oil was pretty black but the truck ran great and it got an oil
change pretty quick.
On a side note, the oil in those old ( and newer) engines is pretty thick
right now as we have had wind chill factors in the -30C range. Its back down
to -10F tonight but at least the wind seems to have dropped. Looking forward
to spring already.
