I'd be inclined to think spark, from a bad coil, or a bad ignition switch.. 
however.. for the heck of it.. if it does it again before you replace any 
components.. IMMEDIATLY check carb bowl for flow right when it cuts out.  if 
flow is good, check spark by cranking over with coil wire pulled from 
distrib held 1/4 " from block..

Ignition switches get old and heat up and then cut power tot he coil.. then 
when they coil.. all is well again.  Same with the older coils.  Could be 
either.. including a failing condensor.  You are looking at about 27$ in 
electrical parts if you do the shotgun method.  i'm not always a fan of 
that.. but somethimes it is worth it to just get by the problem.
