[Steam-engine] Reciprocating forces Oil Grooves/ Huber progress.

In reading the link http://www.stiweb.com/appnotes/jb.htm, this makes 
perfect sense with a shaft on an electric motor or multi cylinder engine.
I'm a bit concerned about the harsh reciprocating forces on the crank disc 
side. I know everything is balanced but the pull and push surely moves the 
oil wedge around the shaft or forces it back and forth. Any other ideas 
here? What did the original grooves look like?
