This sounds so familiar. My 97 Blazer is thankfully maintenance free so
far but that engine is sure buried out of sight.
Unlike my old 71 Chev with the straight six. I think I could jump start
the solenoid on that truck in the dark with a screwdriver. It was acting
up a bit during harvest. My nephew and SIL each had problems starting it
so I showed them the method of shorting across the solenoid terminals to
start the truck. My SIL said "I'm not doing that!" so I ended up taking
the time to go over all the connections. Cleaned them up nice and shiny
and the truck has started fine ever since. Guess the solenoid was ok
after all.
