Good tread with a lot of weight will work pretty good in snow. Without 
weight, the N series I have had are pretty useless in snow.
Chains are a big help.  The last I knew (maybe 5 years ago, chains to fit 
12.4 x 28 ran $110.00-$125.00 a set, new.
