Rose Moss also grew good in central KS.    My grandmother usually had a nice 
bed of rose moss; and in hot, dry weather she had to occasionally water it. 
My problem was Bud, my dog, realized that scratching in that moist ground 
created a nice cool spot for him to lay in.    Those were the only times I 
can remember Grandma getting upset with me.   Looking back, I guess I should 
have been thankful that Bud was not a large dog.
