Farmer you are correct in that the plants are Portulaca and the variety is
Sundial Mix.  The plants will grow with less than ideal water and fertility.
 BUT if you feed it heavily and keep plenty of moisture available it will
thrivew as seen in the photo.  You can fertilize it really heavy without
over doing it. In most areas of North America it is an annual that will
reseed itself if you don't work the soil to deeply.  All in all it is a very
nice plant grouping.
