[AJD] Generator differences? Early vs later styled

Anyone on the list know what the differences are between these two 6V Delco
generators?  

Delco # 1101371 used on B's 96000 to 200999 with cutout relay

Delco # 1101385 used on B's 60000 to 95999 with cutout relay

Both use the same:

Armature 1841027
Field Coil Set 19002102
Main Brush Set 1880998 
Third Brush plate 809698
Relay 11166809
etc, etc

But use different:

Frame Commutator End 1882356 vs 817216
Frame Drive End 1882358 vs 817223


What is different about the frame ends?  Do they have a different mounting
dimensions?  My guess is the generators are electrically identical. 

Thanks for any help in advance.

PS: Notice I have been able to get my hands on some Delco reference
literature but I still have unanswered questions! :-)
