Bill,

I don't know if JB Weld will hold up in the long term. I check at
McMaster-Carr http://www.mcmaster.com/ . It looks like there is a filler
that will work. It is part # 74575A25. It can be found on page 3209. You
can enter the part # on the home page and it will take you to the
description.

Lou

Subject: [AJD] Styled G Governor Rebuild

Thanks to Duane Larson's recommendation I purchased Robert's video on
overhauling a governor and I am about complete in my repair. The one problem
I a still have is with the sleeve. Mine has several deep pits in the face
where apparently it took too much force to move it since the pits match the
weight arms. Duane had suggested grinding the face smooth but I am afraid
the pits are so deep that I would have to remove near half of the material
to remove them.
I checked and new sleeves are available but Deere is quite proud of them
($90.00). I was thinking of trying to build the face up with either weld
material or some type of epoxy such as JB Weld then grinding it smooth. Then
I suppose I could leave it as is since the pitting is the only problem.
Anyone's thoughts on this problem would be appreciated!
