In North Carolina about two years ago they  made all of the DOT weight 
enforcement officers get certified as Highway Patrolmen.  Now DOT is 
subsection of the State Patrol.  For a year or so the cars looked the same 
with the "weigh man" cars just having a decal that said "weight enforcement 
officer".  That was to get them through the transition of getting all of the 
officers certified.  Now you see Highway Patrolmen in Tahoes and Yukons. 
They will stop a car for speeding or weigh a truck.  All in  a days work.
