In Indiana, State Troopers really try and stay out of DOT issues, they can
not ask for a log book, legally, but of course a DOT officer is just a call
away, sounds like a good neighbor

Here in indiana anything that has a plate that is 12000# or over has to have

dot stickers. whether you haul for hire or not. I have a 1ton rollback with 
16000# plates and its for my own use and has my last name on the side and 
Not For Hire and they still made me get numbers.
