[AT] Bogus subscriptions

Steve Sewell, even with all he has had to deal with, was kind enough to
mention to me today while we were talking about other things that he called
the publisher about his bogus subscription and they said they had a scan of
the original "fall out" insert that was sent in with his name and address.
It was indeed a hand written request.

My bet is now definitely what I mentioned last night: Sales commission
scam. Some unscrupulous telemarketer between bonafide magazine
subscription calls is filling out the insert with names and addresses of
folks who who frequent a particular web site from which he/she harvested
names and home towns; just to boost sales commissions right before he/she
quits with the dough. It could indeed be a prankster. I don't think the
source is ATIS since our impact has been very narrow. I haven't received
one yet (I don't go to any other iron web site) and neither has the
majority of folks here at ATIS on other lists who probably don't frequent
the same tractor lists or don't go to tractor sites at all. I could be
wrong though on this.

Just wanted to give you folks an update,
