Dad got his PhD from Purdue in either 1946 or 47---and went straight to
Raleigh. Within just a few years, he was a Dept Head---new fields,
etc. He and a bud were the first two PhDs in Animal Husbandry out of
Purdue, so promotion came a tad faster than it might today!!!
