[Steam-engine] wood bearings

Jim,

Well at least our thinking is right, should I be the lucky one with the lottery, well let's just say that most engines for sale would reside at my home. Now you really know a fella has the bug bad when you know what you would do with a lot of extra cash laying around. Anyway, glad I was able to clear that up for you.

Lawrence

You are right about it being a Wolfe gear, Lawrence. Serves me right for
trusting a dusty brain over a dusty book!
Thanks for coming to the rescue on this one. I don't have a lot of exposure
to traction engines, but I do like them.
Perhaps the right lottery numbers will come up and change that, but for now
it's stationary engines at the museum
for me!
Regards,
Jim Mackessy

"Marsh Gear" has two gears, one tied to the crankshaft and the other
attaches to the valve linkage. The theory being that with the valve
straight horizontally with the crank shaft that the valve has no or very
little movement. However, when it is rotate above or below the center of
the crankshaft center line, that you obtain valve motion. Anyone, am I
incorrect on my understanding of the "Marsh Valve"?
