Are you thinking of "How to Rebuild and Restore Farm Tractor Engines" 
ISBN 0-7603-0661-3 published by MBI Publishing? That is my constant 
companion when overhauling tractor engines, along with the 
manufacturer's service manual. I highly recommend it as a Christmas gift 
for anyone who collects/restores/uses antique machinery.
