[AJD] Unusual 430 "W"?? on ebay

Maybe in my medication induced stupor I have missed a clear answer to this
question. But I too believe this serial number tag was originally something
different than what it now appears to be. It appears to me that the "W" has
been scratched over something else. Was it a "U"?

This probably sounds like a dumb question to those of you who are intimately
involved in the Dubuque tractors but I am not. Was there a 40 "W" serial
number tag issued by the factory?

I blew up the picture, and there is a trace of black lettering beneath the
shiny W.. Not clear enough to determine if it's a W or something else..

Have a happy thanksgiving..

Well, maybe I'm blind, but the tractor configuration is a Row-Crop Utility,
which would have been marked with a "W" on the tag. The "W" does seem to be
a bit shiny, though. Certainly an unusual location for the lights.

I'm not all that familiar with what a 430 W serial number plate is supposed
to look like but it sure looks like the "W" has been scratched in after the
fact.

Unless I'm missing all of my brain cells, it looks like a normal serial
number plate for a 430W of that era to me.
