Hi Bigdog,

Thanks for the feedback. I got the magneto mail order and I am not sure if it has a new coil. The carb was new as well, but I could still have some junk in the line.. The gas cap is new, but may not be proper either. Since i drive about 2 hours into a place where I cannot find parts, does anyone know the part number for the coil? I can always clean the lines and make a gasket to re-seal the carb..

Thanks, for the response.

Regards,
Keith

Keith, those are classic signs of an overheating coil. But, since you've already replaced the mag, that may not be the case. One thing to do is to check for spark after it dies. If you do not still have a bright blue spark about 1/4" to 3/8" long you have an ignition system problem.
The other possibility is a fuel supply issue. If the vent in the fuel tank is plugged you may be creating a vacuum in the gas tank. Try removing the gas cap after it dies. If you hear a sucking sound as you remove the cap, there is a vacuum in the tank. It could also be dirt or crud in the tank blocking the outlet.

Subject: [Farmall] Farmall Model H - Cuts out after 45 min to an hour

Hi Folks,

I have a 1941 Farmall Model H with a six foot bushhog on the back. When I run the tractor after about 45 min to an hour it just shuts off. I let it sit for a while and it goes right back to running fine. I have replaced the magneto, plugs, carb and the wires, oil, filter, and still no luck. The water is moving in the radiator and is hot but suprisingly not scalding hot. I was thinking it was simply over heating, I do not know - maybe the thermostat? Any ideas would help!

Thanks,
Keith
