If you have a noise check it out. A friend used his hoe at my sons place a
few years ago with a noise and took a tooth of the ring gear. Ring and
pinion was about 800 plus. That was the cost of the parts only, he did the
work. We of course helped him remove and tear down and when he had it set
up we helped reinstall. It is basically a transaxle and a very large piece
of cast iron. If you can get by with new bearings and shims which is the
way they set the backlash and side clearances in those it is cheaper to fix
before breaking.

Subject: [AT] Case 580
Hi i hope some one on the list can give me some information on a case 580 B
hoe loader. Mine is some where in the 70s it has developed a clanking in
the rear end.Can you give me some facts on these machines i have heard
that this is a problem with them????????. And can any one advise should i
get it repaired now or wait till some think breaks or slips. Any idea what
cost would be to replace rear end ring gear and pinion. This is a job i
would need to farm out . tractor reference i use it to move old tractors
and parts around.
Thanks any and all replys wanted.
