[AT] anybody close to this?

Al, excuse my jumping in, but the last I heard I-40 has a section of
one-lane traffic between Ashville and Knoxville -- remains of the damage
from one of the hurricanes that came through last year.  I'll know for
sure after the Hickory show in mid-May because that's about the only way
I can get there from here.  Of course the problem is in the mountain
area where you really need a slow lane when towing to keep from burning
up an automatic transmission.

Charlie, Is there a "better" way to get to TN from NC than I-40?  I am
hoping to take a trip towards Nashville this summer for the IH
Collector's Red Power Roundup and I may be pulling a trailer.

I didn't know about Arkansas (that is one of a the few eastern US states

haven't been in).  I do know that the truckers don't much like going the
the 
NC/TN mountain passes on I-40 but I figured that wasn't the only reason.
