Ivan,
The first thing you should do is install a physical firewall device
between the DSL modem and your system. They come from several manu-
facturers and usually cosy around $50. I installed one on my S-I-L's
system and as far as I know, she's never been attacked.
Google "ethernet router" and you'll get a bunch of hits, or go to
pricewatch.com and check there for the best prices.

Phil

> We finally got the chance to go from dialup to dsl out here . I am used to
turning my pc off at night and when we go away . But since dsl is always on
what happens ? As a security measure all my tax records and sensitive
stuff are moving to a external drive so they can be only accessed when
plugged in . Thanks , Ivan
