JD pawl needed- was Re: [AT] Really depressing loss of old iron...

Grant:

Those two part numbers seem to be reversed as far as description is
concerned. And they don't show as being used on a lister or bedder. But the
good news is JD shows these two parts as still being available from JD
obsolete inventory. Have your dealer check the Parts Depot.

I need to do more research on what lister model you may have. They only show
being used on plows.

I'm gone all day and won't get to work on it tomorrow.

Dean, it is amazing what sunlight can do! I was able to find the casting
numbers on the other remaining pawl and the clutch cover casting this
morning. The clutch cover is D802A and the other pawl is D797A. I assume the

pawl I need is also D797A, but it has been lost for so many years that I
could not say that for sure. The lister does not have any serial number
plate, and most of the JD Green paint is now gone. It was bought new by a
friend's father and when I got it twenty some years ago it still had a bit
of the green and he confirmed it was a John Deere.
I hope someone can help me find this part. I also think part of my
problems may lie in the wear of the unit and that I might be able to shift
where the engagement lever sits by a quarter inch to make it catch a bit
better, but that won't solve the pawl missing issue. I need to plant the
tomato plants this week for the late heirloom crop and then I will list the
rest of the field so I may have a few days before I use the lister again.
Thanks to all on the list for any help you can offer and Dean I am
curious if you can tell me the model number of this lister. Pull-type of
course, Three bottoms on 40" with factory markers and rope pulleys.
