Over the past couple weeks I've been trying to get new tires on the Cub.
Naturally nothing has gone right. I finally got the rims sandblasted, primed and
painted. They look really good and now I'm inspired to paint the rest of the
tractor. I was picking at the paint on the fuel tank and it looks like there is
3 coats of paint on it. The first coat was yellow, the second coat was a thin
coat of bright red and the final coat is a dark red that was probably applied
with a 6" brush.

A local guy has quoted a price of $150-$200 to come here and sandblast the
entire tractor. Of course there is a bunch of mechanical stuff I want to do
first. Like rebuild the steering gearbox, replace the seals on the final drives,
and get the motor rebuilt just cuz. I guess the paint will have to wait.

I ended up using an epoxy primer with a lot of soilids to help hide some of
the pitting. For the final color coat I used Dupont Centari acrylic enamel.
It's been a long time since I've done any painting and I'm amazed at all of the
products that are now available. Thankfully the folks at the paint store are
very patient and willing to answer my questions.

Regards,
Karl
