My Dodge 4WD 2500 pickup was too tall for me too as I have
short legs. I didn't like those nerf bars as they looked slippery
and I was afraid Lucille would slip and fall getting in on the
passenger side. So, I bought a set of those cast aluminum steps
that are about 16 inches long with the serrated tops. JC Whitney
had them in the catalog at the time and I put them on myself in just
a few minutes. They are still there and I couldn't be more pleased.
Probably don't look as nice on a sporty truck as nerf bars but are
just fine on mine. One thing about them compared to running boards
is, like the nerf bars, they don't pick up snow and ice and stay
clean.
