Found the reason when I copied Greg on my last note.

Someone reported a SPAMMER to rr.blackholes.us that was apparently was
sending from an address that was within the larger group my subnet belongs
to.  I will try to get a hold of them tomorrow.  Geez, I can't win for
losing.

PS:  I didn't know this specific reason before because the mailing list
software doesn't save the exact error text for the 550 class error (in this
case a 554).  I only found it when I sent to him directly.
