restoration: the act of restoring something to a satisfactory state

restore

 1: return to its original or usable and functioning condition; 2:
return to life; get or give new life or energy 3: restore by replacing a
part or putting together what is torn or broken; ; " [syn: repair, mend,
fix,]4: bring back into original existence, use, function, or position;

Maybe in the truest sense, even taking parts from another tractor is not
restoring, just repairing. I think from a practical standpoint, just
bring life and usefulness back is restoring even if you don't make it
look like a parade piece. I guess restoration has many different
correct meanings and it is up to the individual using the term to tell
you what it means. I've even heard restoration meaning new spark plug
wires and 6 cans of spray paint.
