I've also seen orifices plugged with bits of teflon tape.

I had a bad experience with teflon tape recently on the Cockshutt 50. This
tractor had not run for almost two years when I finally got it going in
December. I used it to run the hammer mill and it worked great. However when
I parked it in the shed , standing beside the idling engine it sounded like
squeeking sounds coming from the top end of it. On opening up the oil lines
at the brass junction block onthe head I found that the tiny orifice through
which oil to the rocker arms travels was completely blocked by what appeared
to be a small piece of teflon tape. I'm hoping I haven't done permanent
damage to the top end of the engine but I won't know til I start it up
again. Needless to say I did not use any teflon tape when I re-assembled the
oil lines.
