At the risk of inciting the "correct police", I have a friend who has three 
different machines on which he reverses the motor using an ordinary 4-way 
household switch.  It has worked successfully for him for several 
years.  No, this wouldn't work for a lathe, where you are continually 
reversing, but for the limited amount we would be reversing our drill 
presses and for the aprox. $9.00 cost for the switch, I would think this 
would be the way to go as long as your motor is less than 1hp.
