Ken, these were early 80s with stock engines i  suppose about 7.5 to 1.  they 
were getting almost 30 on gas before the test  we kept a couple without 
changing them over and they did get around 28 to 30 mpg  on the base. 

Yes you are correct they should do better with higher  compression but I was 
looking at a website where they claimed that a Ford Ranger  got 17 city on gas 
and 14 city on E85 I know a lot of people who have Rangers  and they get 
around 26 on gas. I think a lot of these sites are promoting their  products.  
Anyway it was consistant with what George has said.  I  just don't trust 
these sites after having first hand experience with E85.
