[AT] OT; Gasoline prices

I saw my first instance of Bio-diesel being offered for sale here on the
West Coast this past week in a regular gas station. It was in Bend, Oregon.
Normal #2 diesel was $2.79 a gallon at this station but the bio-diesel was
listed at $3.18 a gallon. Not sure they were selling much of it. Not sure
there is a real reason to buy bio-diesel at that price disadvantage along
with the disadvantage of less power per gallon. I guess I haven't bought
into the program yet.

I wonder if the reason for lower fuel prices in the corn belt is due to the
competition from the partially corn based fuels???  If that is true then
there is hope for the success of the corn based products and possibly lower
general fuel prices.  I might get really interested if I saw a way to get
rid of our dependence on foreign oil.

What part of eastern Iowa? In the Iowa City/Cedar Rapids area I'm 
seeing $2.18-2.21 as the low with diesel being in the $2.32-2.35 range.

 From what I've been told around here you have to pay for the taxes on 
gas and then file it on your tax return. Dyed diesel for off road use 
is as easy as a request. I get the bio-diesel blend for the tractor. I 
wish I could find bio-diesel locally at the pump for my pickup.
