[AT] OT:I need some computer help please

I will second your motion, Bruce.  After being pretty disapointed with a 
$1650.00 big name machine purchased new in '01, I bought a new emachine 
around Jan. 2 of this year.  160GB hard drive, 512mb ram, 3200 amd 
processor, cd/dvd drive, +/- and dual layer, cd player, 8 slot mem. card 
reader, and the 17" monitor.  Cost under $800.00 at the wholesale club.  
Naturally last month this same machine was on discount for $100.00 less.  
Thought about another, but resisted the impulse.  So far we are working 
fine, but I think about boosting the Ram.  I would also like one that can 
type and spell better, but we get what we pay for. (grin)  I did replace the 
cheap feeling mouse with an optical mouse from Big Lots for 8 bucks.  That 
seemed like a deal. My logic at this point is that even the best machine 
will be left behind in 3 or 4 years by newer stuff, so buy cheap and replace 
it in 3 or 4 years.

I hear a number of complaints from users who bought a used machine from a 
company, but never got the chief administrator password, and can't.  They 
are able to access some operating files by setting up as an administrator, 
but are not the god who can access all files.
