FWIW - I find that the ultrasonic cleaners that are available for
dentures work very well for this sort of thing, Steve.  I've picked them
up at garage sales for 50 cents to a dollar.

I cheat now and use an Ultrasonic cleaner to clean carbs....
Much faster and easier to just toss them in the basket and let it run.
