I wouldn't put lye in a motorcycle carb.  I don't think the zinc will take
it.   Use regular carb cleaner for that.

Lye will eat/swell many non-ferrous metals if exposed for any length of
time.   Be careful here and be sure to minimize the exposure and rinse
thoroughly afterwards.
