Actually Phil it appears that they do. I know you are vastly more
knowledgeable than I am but one of those Microsoft error reports popped up.
They pop up everytime I have any sort of problem with XP, even if it's just
a program failing to run for some reason. It always asks if you want to
send the report. I usually don't send them though. This time I noticed a
link in the Error Report pop up for info about what the report does and
where it goes. In that report (on a microsoft web page) it mentioned
exactly what happened.
You might be correct. It might be a scam but if it is it's very well done
and it's been going on with this computer since I took it out of the box new
a little over a year ago.
