Dean, its been real satisfying work on the tractor.. I know I feel like
Greg is my long lost relative as I talk to him more than some of my
family members..I really like the 70, the way it sounds, the feeling of
power, and the size... I just pull up a sawhorse and sit there some days
to listen to it idle when I take a break from working on the parts,
something satisfying about giving a good second, or third, or fourth
life..
Dennis...

Dennis:

Excellent pictures and excellent work. That 70 will look 10 times better
than when it came off the production line. To make it look like it came
off
the production line it would need paint overspray in several areas and
greased gunny sacks on the axles.

I spent my teenage years on a JD 70. But ours didn't have power
steering.
They are one hell of a tractor. The memories of plowing at night with
the 70
stuck with me for 40 years while I was away from tractors. Now I have
many
two cylinders but still no model 70. I'm sneaking up on it though, have
a 50
and two 60's.

The memories of the flame coming out of the 70's muffler and that engine
lugging down just a bit and then pounding away for hours at a time will
never be forgotten.

Good work, it is a beautiful machine.

Here is the photo album up to date on the 70 resto job. If anybody is
interested.. Its getting close to having the wheels back on.Thought this
would never come.. I figured I would be done in JULY but its run a bit
longer. I guess I bit off more than I expected but it will be nice when
done.. If it would ever stop freaking raining here in the south. I
might need floats rather than tires.
