Let me tell you, try one and you will never want to go
back to flipping hoods.  They work well, default to
SAFE (dark) if any thing happens, and just make life
better.  I've had mine for almost 10 years now. 
Fortunatly, it was a present from my father,  they
were $3-400.00 then.  And that was for a straight
shade, variable was more.  I thought my welder son was
crazy to recommend shade 11, but it seems better than
a 10 in a regular helmet just because of the
convenience.  Also is the neatest thing for tacking
prior to final welding!  Try it, you'll like it.
