I can see the good things in it like sitting in your car relaxing while someone fills it up. But I don't believe that anything comes free, the gasstation owner got to get the money to the gasfillers paycheck from something. In the middle of the night how do you do then are you restricted to a few 24-7 stations or have all became 24-7 because of the law?
BTW a friend of mine owns a gasstation in Linköping, he has some people travel many miles to fill the car at his place because those special customers have their cars filled by him and he's the only guy I know of that does this. Some of the customers can't fill their own cars!

is it true that in some state(s) it is forbidden to fill your car with gas
by your self at a gasstation?

Mattias,
that is true here in Oregon they have tried to repeal the law but the people
won't let it happen. after you see that it doesn't cost any more for the gas
and that it puts lots of people to work who wouldn't have a job and it just
nice to sit in the car and let someone else serve you then you realize what a
good law it is. And most stations will even wash your windshield just like
in the Good Ol' Days.
