If I remove the rocker arm assembly to begin checking the oil passage, will
it have to be re-adjusted when it's put back on?

Dick, I can't tell you about the M engine but on my Allis engines you wish
you were not standing near them. They sling oil everywhere. No gussher but
more like a wet dog shaking. Sounds like you have an oil passage cloged on
the way to the valve train.
