As much as I hate "me too" messages, I've got to say it in this case.
You're right on, Tom. I borrowed a really nice negative scanner from my
cousin so I could digitize several hundred roll film negatives of family
photos. The software was expecting to see an Adaptec SCSI port on the
system, and even though I configured everything right, XP wouldn't
recognize the existence of the right hardware. It turns out that the
drivers from the company won't work on anything newer than 98 and since
the scanner is five or six years old they have no intention of issuing a
driver for any of the newer versions of Windows.

Bummer.

I'm glad to see you commenting about the Microtec scanner problem. I'm
seriously looking at that brand for roll film negative scanning and will
investigate thoroughly before I buy.

Larry

The only problem with XP is that if you have a Scanner that attaches
to the parallel port or some cameras you may have to replace them. Check
on the manufactures web site to see if new drivers are avalible.

The just may not be avaliable. I know Canon dropped support for some
of thier cameras and film scanners.

My microtec scanner would not work.

DO not get ME at all costs. Windows 98 is much better than
ME. After that WIndows 2000 and then wINDOWS XP
