I saw one of those  Ranger Diesels last  thursday at the   JD Expo in 
downtown moline  last thursday.  

Now for the clutch.  On the John Deere tractors  if the tractor is not moving 
it needs to be enganged in neutral because the clutch "idols"  on a bushing 
not a true bearing .  Also the clutch brake (the little pads on the outside of 
the belt pully)  tend to get worn out faster as well.
