Dan,

You've received quite a bit of advice concerning your desire to purchase an
engine. May I suggest that prior to getting excited over all of the boiler
readings that you research the type of engine you wish to purchase and not
just the first one that comes along?

Different manufacturers built their engines to different specs and each has
its weaknesses. Some engines are known to have bad corners, others the
crown sheets and still others tend to have broken stay bolts.

If you can find a knowledgable person with your desired engine style, the
benefits will be yours.

No matter which engine you purchase, have the funds available to properly
upgrade the boiler and engine. If you are fortunate enough to find a
"perfect" engine, fabulous! If not, make the time to restore it right with
the knowledge that you and your family are on the footplate.

Good Luck!
Beth
