[AT] Parting out tractors - what are your thoughts?

CRAWLER HEAVEN/ED CHRISTOPHERSON crawler at lynnet.com

Well let me start by saying "you can't get good parts from junk machines"
Machines that have set for years outside, abused ,and millions of hours
don't have many good parts left in them. In my business i part out
small(under 5 ton) crawler tractors and even running workin machines when
you take them apart have very few sellable parts, you'd be surprized how
many have worn and brokin gears but are still moving and working. I look for
nice machines if i can buy them reasonable especialy model machines that are
in demand. If i did not buy good machines i bet my used parts business would
be one half of what it is and many people would have to pay more for many
parts. I hear alot: you arn't going to cut that crawler up are you?? And the
answer is in a heart beat.. Also many machines i have offered in the past to
people and for what they want to pay for them makes me want to part them
all the more. So if any grown men want to cry look on my web site in my
gallery and you will see some very nice workin and runnin machaces that are
going to or have been cut up. http://www.crawlerheaven.com/index.htm

out busted up and broken-down hulks. I've gotten parts this way myself.
But what about parting out restorable tractors, or worse yet - running and
drivable tractors? This link is what got me thinking about the subject:
http://cgi6.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewSellersOtherItems&userid=joe-levad
&include=0&since=-1&sort=3&rows=50 It appears this seller is parting out
what used to be a very nice-looking, parade-ready tractor. Not a perfect
tractor, but definitely not a hulk. I don't want to villafy the man - he
has every right to do what he wants to his tractor - and I hate to single
him out, but it's just an example.
