Hey Guys,
Finally made up my mind to stop lurking and start
talking to some real neat people.
Me and my family live in south west lower Michigan,
right on I-94, half way between Detroit and Chicago,
little town called Paw Paw (after the tree I think).
Kids are all grown and we have 3 grandsons, (new to 3
years old).
My pride and joy is my 1941 IH I-4. Only the second
owner if you don't count it's first year working at
the Fort Wayne truck plant before being sold (1942)to
the paper mill where I worked. I bought it as scrap
from them in 1995. Just needed cleaning and painting
back to it's original Safety Orange and a pair of
brake bands. Boy these restorations can be tough! :-)
I also have a bunch of walking tractors (therefore my
address) and various other machinery. Way to many
projects but it keeps me off the streets.
My other love is steam, one of my best friends needed
help rebuilding his Nichols & Shepard and got me
hooked. You really have to love to slave to work on
these beasts, not at all like internal combustion.
Don't do any farming but will try my hand at turning a
furrow this spring. Just picked up an Oliver two
bottom and a John Deere Stag Sulky plow. At least we
have some land to play on, can plow and play all I
want.
